The war is long gone, but its harsh echoes are still lingering, continuing to create inconsolable aftershocks for countless unfortunate lives and many later generations of this S-shaped country which still suffer the consequences named “Agent Orange”. Duong Thi Muon (born in 1971) is a living proof of the consequences of this war. Inherited from her father (a martyr) – she has a leg defect. She currently lives in Phuoc Tan hamlet, Phuoc Luu commune, Trang Bang district, Tay Ninh province.
Although getting married late and carrying the sequel of Agent Orange, she was fortunate to give birth to a healthy baby girl – now 11 years old. Filled with happiness and pride, she shared with us: “She’s very good and studies well! This year, she received a scholarship again!” – that is her pride, life force and working to try harder to take care of her children and look after her small family.
Her husband works as a telecommunications cable with some friends in Cambodia. Currently, his health is no longer the same as before due to joint pain and sciatica from previous hard work but not getting proper treatment – his working capacity has decreased, he has to stop. Now, he doesn’t have a stable job, just do what people hire. After a long time working away from home, away from children, he has a desire to work with her to have stable life, to be able to take his children to school, be friends with her and teach her – because that’s all their property, your reason for living. Those who are parents, perhaps we will also understand and sympathize with this them – the heart of parents. And also be happy with them, although the economy is still difficult, no lucky, but they still have a civilized view of life – care about psychology, emotions and investment, encouragement for children’s learning.
Her family belongs to a poor household, she worked as a seamstress for about ten years, but due to her illness and late childbirth, she had to quit sewing and switch to selling noodle at home to earn extra income. However, the burden fell on her when her husband, mother-in-law and birth mother got sick at the same time, so she had to stop working to take care of them. Within 12 days, her mother-in-law and birth mother passed away.
Because of stopping working for a while but still spending for her daily life, she had run out of capital and cannot continue her old job. Currently, they are doing hired chores at home, earning about 20,000 VND – 30,000 VND/day. While having to take care of family, they have to pay more for their daughter’s education. They seemed to be a little lopsided on the path of livelihood until they heard information about the campaign “Banh mi se chia” of Hung Duy company in collaboration with the Women’s Union of Tay Ninh Province – with the goal of “Supporting poor women to start up a business”. She is hoping to be able to receive this support soon to start a business and earn money.
Although she had no experience, but with the desire to get out of poverty by selling bread, she has tried to find information and learn a lot from experienced people who are selling bread so that she can understand how to make bread and calculate. That makes us more convinced, more confident when accompanying with this difficult woman with the will to overcome this fate.
Empathizing with Ms. Muon’s circumstance, on the morning of July 5, 2019, Hung Duy Company cooperated with the Women’s Union of Tay Ninh province, the Women’s Union of Trang Bang district & the Women’s Union of Phuoc Luu commune to visit Ms. Muon and conduct the ceremony “Giving capital to support poor women to start up a business”. At the ceremony, Hung Duy Company gave her a gift worth 8,500,000 VND (including 1 bread cart, cash to support the cost of buying raw materials – tools and a gift to encourage her).
During the ceremony, she happily shared: “It’s been raining these days, I’m afraid I won’t be able to sell it. Dear God, from early to now (about 8am) I sold 50 loaves, so happy! People here also sympathize with my situation, so they come to buy and support me. Thank you Hung Duy company, Women’s Union very much. I just want to have a lot of health so that I can do business.”
Hung Duy Company hopes that with these contributions, we will give her mental strength to overcome difficulties and have a better life. And with all our sincerity, we wish you a successful start-up soon to be a living proof of the energy to overcome difficulties for other imperfect lives; I pray that your family is healthy and safe.
Women will easily sympathize with women, Tay Ninh people will always love Tay Ninh people and the Vietnamese will protect the Vietnamese. Be ressured to work and live well because “Hung Duy is always with you”. For Hung Duy Company – Happiness is sharing.
